When you look in the mirror and smile, do you like what you see? Are you happy with pictures of yourself, or do you wish your smile was more uniform and seamless? If you are considering cosmetic dentistry in Oakbrook Terrace, dental bonding might be a viable option.

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic dental treatment aimed at repairing dental imperfections; if you suffer from any of the following dental concerns, you may be a candidate for dental bonding:

  • Cracked teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Broken teeth
  • Discolored teeth
  • Gaps in your teeth

In our dental office, we use a tooth-colored composite resin to change the appearance of your natural tooth. Dental bonding is an efficient, long-lasting option to make your teeth look as good as new. Not only does dental bonding improve the aesthetics of your smile, but it can also help you maintain your oral health by preventing further damage to your teeth.

The Dental Bonding Procedure

When you visit our dental office for dental bonding, you can expect it to be a quick and painless process. The steps of a dental bonding procedure are as follows:

1. If you need a dental filling before your dental bonding procedure or have a chipped tooth near a nerve, we will administer anesthesia to numb the area.

2. Next, we will choose a composite resin color that closely matches your natural tooth color, making sure to ask you for your input on the color choice.

3. Then, we will bond the composite resin to your tooth; we do this by making your tooth’s surface feel rough and then applying a bonding agent to it before adding the composite resin.

4. At this point, we will mold the resin to either repair your damaged tooth or create a more desirable tooth shape.

5. Finally, ultraviolet light is used to harden the composite resin.

That’s it!
